Introduction In this paper, I have two main objectives which are providing an overview of the academic year 2007-2008 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and also detailing a specific event that occurred during this year. I will begin by explaining some of the events that took place. These include: UNC being gifted $5 million to carry out research on natural disasters, the Morrison dorm being renovated, and gospel vocalist Al Green performing at the Carolina Performing Arts’ season opener. However, in this paper, I will be discussing the kidnapping and murder of UNC student body president Eve Carson and arguing why this event was the most important of the year.…

I believe the best way to describe a typical TCNJ student is in one word - talented. Throughout my multiple visits at the college it’s never surprising to find someone on the lawn painting at a level to impress Monet or hear something amazing play coming from the windows of Mayo Hall. Out of all the schools in New Jersey my heart remains set on TCNJ because it’s an institution with a personality. There is a perfect balance of academics and opportunity that many schools are striving to achieve. The rigor of a class at TCNJ is worth every single ounce of effort in high school but even then there is no guarantee of smooth sailing and I am ready for a challenge.…

Are you sure the reason for not going to college is because it’s a waste of time and money or because it’s to challenging for you. Going to college is a great opportunity to succeed in life. Not saying you can’t succeed in the future without college, I’m saying it would be a lot easier than not going and trying to start a career. At least that’s what I think, I’m only 14 in high school and obviously I haven’t been college or had paying job, but I conversate with a lot of teachers and family members to know how life without college would be. College might be difficult, time consuming and a lot of money, but it’s worth it.…

Going to college for just a piece of paper that shows an individual’s ability to be motivated is unheard of. The choice of a student to just skate by in college will definitely show in the real world job market. A person might be able to fake his way through college but faking his way through a career would be much harder. I believe a student in the job market will show his or her abilities during an interview and on the job task. McArdle’s statement “College graduates now make 80 percent more than people who have only a high-school diploma” (25) contradicts his questionable doubt of college worth.…

It is super important to get to know the campus that you are attending. There are so many things that I didn’t know about UNCW until I actually took the time to go visit everything. It is very helpful to get a campus map, take a tour, or ask an employee or experienced student to show you around campus. You do not want to be that freshmen on the first day of class that has no clue where he is or where he is going. Along with knowing your campus it’s also important to know your professors.…
