Now that robots have taken most simple jobs in factories around the world, there is a shortage of skilled workers for higher level jobs. Most of these jobs require a 2 or 4 year college education. Even careers such as an artist, singer, professional mime, are easier with a college education in that field. I am not saying that you have to go to college to live a good life, just look at people like Charles Culpeper, he dropped out of high school and is now th owner and CEO of Coca Cola. The reason why college is such a big issue now is because back in the 19th century, colleges were for teacher-training or medical diplomas. People didn’t need to go to college to become a farmer or a store owner. They were taught by their elders or passed down knowledge of a family owned business. “Despite periodic disillusionment with the schools, the pervasive belief has been that education defined a more years of schooling is beneficial. It was not always that way. In earlier centuries, and in other societies, people did not ascribe such power to or make such demands on their schools.
