Going Solo, Roald Dahl's memoir of his work in East Africa and his service in the RAF, covers the buildup to World War II and his involvement in it. In the book mention is made of the BBC. The BBC plays a large role in the memoir as he mentions the "wireless" many times in the story. In the story the wireless is mentioned when Dahl and Mdisho are talking. The book states that "‘How will we know when war is declared?’ Mdisho asked me. 'They will tell us on the wireless from England,’ I said. ‘We shall all know within a few seconds"(54). This evidence clearly shows their goal, being directly quoted from their site. The BBC has been keeping its promise for all 95 years of its existence, giving us news on a long list of world events that have happened and are happening. WWII is most definitely included on this long list. So, not only did the BBC not only reported news on the war, but they possibly even helped win
