In order to save the "dying" city of Gotham from the criminal underworld, poverty, and corruption within the police department, Bruce returns to the root of all his misery as a changed man; the identity of Batman was established to prevent anyone else from experiencing the pain and suffering he had endured as a child while the normal Bruce Wayne returns to his "throne" at Wayne Enterprises in order to gain the funding needed for new technology such as the bat-mobile and upgrading the suit as well as using his influence to support individuals such as Harvey Dent who had gained the title of the "White Knight" due to being able to achieve justice during the day without a mask. Despite his vigilantly approach towards establishing law and order, Batman is able to maintain his sanity by acknowledging a specific honor code that prevents him from using deadly force or resorting to killing criminals such as the Joker despite his ruthless and unpredictable nature to harm others for his own enjoyment. What makes Batman an ideal hero is his heart and courage because he refuses to be thanked or acknowledged for his role in justice. As a result, Bruce Wayne actually tries to distant himself from the caped crusader by essentially hiding in pain site and acting like the cocky "Billionaire Playboy" who…
Superheroes. We live in an age of heroes. Whether you’ve seen them in comics, books, TV shows, or movies, you have seen a hero in action. People are fascinated and intrigued by superheroes. Maybe it’s because they give us hope.…
The Oxford dictionary defines a serial killer as a person who murders three or more people, usually in service of abnormal psychological gratification, with the murders taking place over more than a month and including a significant break, known as a "cooling off period” between them. Many characteristics or signs can be displayed by a serial killer that they do not have any control over. Some of these characteristics and signs being: very antisocial, arson, early childhood abuse, peeing the bed, extreme intelligence, killing small animals, and many others (Frese, Susan). Most of these characteristics and signs can take place in their early to mid-childhood, however some of these actions may carry over into the later years of their life. This…
As previously stated, the Roaring Twenties created a need for the common gangster. Men like Al Capone, Legs Diamond, and Machine Gun Kelly. These men personified the era, from prostitution, to gambling, to bootlegging they were involved in all illegal trades. Capone is the most infamous of these men, dealing in Chicago Capone was known for his many speakeasies around the city (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 2016, para. 1). The strength of the gangster allowed them to buy off the government, which of course could never happen in Brave New World.…
Firstly, I would like to use the source of “War on Terror” to point out batman “gadgets” and how he is one of the most powerful men of his world. I would like to bring in the idea that batman has all the financial spending power that other people do not have. I will connect this to the notion of the power that others such as villains wish for, but they cannot have. As a result, batman creates a huge advantage among his competitors or villains.…
What is Batman’s single most guilty pleasure? Hey baby, come back to my place and I’ll show you ____? What has been making life difficult at the nudist colony?…
In Alan Moore’s giraphic novel, The Killing Joke, the Joker reveals to Batman how he really does not know what happened to him and how he lost his sanity. But if he were to have a past, he would prefer it to be multiple choice. His confession to Batman contains a great deal of irony because there can be so many interpretations of what all the little details in the picture of him really could symbolize. However, the answer to his multiple choice question probably would not be what people expect it to be. The answer would be all of the above.…
Look, up there in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it’s… a superhero who is totally capable of being psychoanalyzed! What many people fail to realize is that, despite their powers, superheros and villians are capable of human emotions and traits. I’m sure that we also might question why superheroes/villains turn out the way they do. The Psychology of Superheroes: An Unauthorized Exploration gives major insight to why and how superheroes came to be what they have become.…
Criterion f: duration; criterion g: distress; and criterion h: exclusion The DSM-5 also mandates that these symptoms be present for at least one month. In Bruce Wayne’s case, many of the symptoms have been present for approximately 20 years. The trauma occurred when he was a small child, and all of the symptoms were still present 20 years later, much longer than the month that is required.…
The character of Batman is considered to be one of the world’s classic and modern day superhero. His story has taken on many different forms from comics, to TV series, and to today’s modern cinematography. However, I want to discuss the story of Batman and its famous characters based off of the 2000’s version of the current films. We have all come to know Batman as a vigilante who fights bad people as he conceals his true identity as Gotham’s renowned playboy and millionaire, Bruce Wayne. I want to use the personas of Bruce Wayne, Batman, and the well-known villains of this universe because of how they relate to the many ideas used in psychology.…
Dahmer was your normal quiet nerdy kid growing up, besides the fact that he would go around collecting dead animals in the neighborhood and dissect them at his house. His later acts included the compulsive masturbating, and becoming a homosexual. He was kicked out from his house after being discharged from the military, and he moved to his grandparents. His grandmother admitted to routinely finding different weapons in his room and to him being very strange. Shortly after Dahmers second arrest in 1986 for the indecent expose again, Dahmers grandmother kicked him out because of this strange behavior he was continuously doing.…
Even you’d like to be. To them, you’re a freak. Like me.” Joker reminds Batman that he’s different from the traditional police force, since he has his own unique way of upholding justice. What Joker said to Batman is technically true, both Batman and Joker are classified as outcasts in the society, they both believe the world is imperfect and that’s what drives them to do what they do.…
Batman’s biggest nemesis is the Joker, and the two could never be anymore different, but one without the other could not exist. In one movie, the Joker even comes out and says “he’s just too fun” and Batman cannot…
And through every meeting between the two, you see neither one is fully able to overcome the other and defeat each other, because they are one and the same, and to defeat the other would mean to lose a part of themselves. The Batman is the conscious self, the self that is shown to the society, the self that others in society want to be like. And the Joker is the inferior part of the person, the unconscious, the part that one chooses to ignore because of the fear it may cause to know. Bruce Wayne considers Batman indestructible, which is why he cuts Batman out of feeling any emotion and forces him to be a logical person. And the Joker forces him to break those rules and face his fear.…
The best super villain that I have known is THE JOKER off of the movie suicide squad. The reason he is the best one is because he is crazy and can steal a helicopter and rule a whole city. He can also cause a major disaster. The THE JOKER has been around for a long time has you may have known.…
