In recent times, the term “going green” has become a daily discussion on everyone’s lips. People are being told to turn off the lights when you aren’t using them, use energy-efficient appliances, and drive less but don’t know why. Going green is an approach which includes doing what is crucial to save the environment. This may include simple things such as recycling glass and other items to reduce related air and water pollution. There are things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint like driving low carbon vehicles or eat locally-produced and organic food. Going green will slow down global warming, save money, improve air quality, and reduce pollution.

Installing solar panels instead of using electricity can save you money. Although solar panels are awfully expensive, solar panels are efficient and worth the price. “Solar energy is renewable which means we can never run out of it. Once solar panels have been installed and are working at maximum efficiency, there is only a small amount of maintenance required each year to ensure they are in working order” (Solar Energy). By walking or biking to work, it can save more money than driving a car. Also, to save money, recycle paper and other materials and reuse them. “With billions of people on the planet, disposing of sewage waste is a major problem. According to 2013 figures from the World Health Organization, some 780 million people (11 percent of the world 's population) don 't have access to safe drinking water, while 2.5 billion (40 percent of the world 's population) don 't have proper sanitation (hygienic toilet facilities); although there have been great improvements in securing access to clean water, relatively little progress has been made on improving global sanitation in the last decade.” (qt. in WHO).
