After reading the article “ Going for the Look, but Risking Discrimination “ by Steven Greenhouse, I have concluded that Cohen’s argument is unacceptable when it comes to hiring people. This is because he lacks the knowledge of understanding the problems that retail stores can have, such as: background discrimination, age discrimination and physical discrimination. Stores should be a great place to be, where everyone can feel welcomed and not feel bad about not portraying a good image.

    It is more difficult for Black people to find employment simply based on society’s negative perception of Blacks. In the essay, Jobless Ghettos: The Social Implications of the Disappearance of Work in Segregated Neighborhoods, sociologist William J.
