In the play “Our Town” there are any worldviews that I have been asked to analyze and compare to the those of the Bible. I will take two, the view of life and of eternity, and compare them to what God says in His word. Let us begin.
I. The view of Life
The view of life in the play is shown to us by many different people from different walks of life. Dr. Gibbs refers to the new pair of twins in the first act in a way that implies that it is nothing special to see a new human born into the world. When the Stage Manager is talking about Joe Crowell, he tells all of Joe's accomplishments, and then says he died in the war and all that education was for nothing. This is not so. Life is for the living. That is why God gave it to us. It is not so we can say that everything we did “live” was wasted. Ecclesiastes 5:18 says “Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.” So we see here the reason for God's gift of life. To enjoy it as long as he gives it.

There are so many asinine ideas regarding the hereafter, you could write an encyclopedia. But in the play we are analyzing, one view is that of a time of sitting and waiting for eternity. Those that have died sit and slowly let all their cares and ties to this world die while waiting for heaven. This is not so. Death brings eternity. Listen to the the story of Lazarus and the rich man. “2 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was
