I know in my personal life I was called to help people. I knew when I was in high school that I needed to be in a profession that would put me in role to a community service type career. My struggle was picking that career. I initially started college for sociology with the intent of social work. Then later graduated with a degree in criminology and working in law enforcement. I love law enforcement and know I did a lot of good while in that position. However I never felt like my life was full and knew I could do more. I was constantly feeling a push to do more. Took a difficult time in my life for me to realize what was being shown for me to do, but it all started when my father had a second heart attack that resulted in a having to go through a second heart bypass. This is when I met the greatest lady in my life and ended up in nursing school with the goal of working in a cardiac intensive care unit. I discounted anything from the medical field because everyone was going there and I didn't want to be a lost number of people rushing to the same career, I wanted to be a little different.…

When I started to read the book titled "The Fabric of This World", I felt that need to reread the history in a different way. The point from rereading the history is to identify the reason behind the work phenomena and the ethics, tradition, and how they were thinking about the job in old days to study the development of the work phenomena. In my opinion, this may reflect the insight of the development of the work attitudes and aptitudes. If I can analyze these factors, I can understand more also the development of the non-work factors behind the human choices for the career and the philosophy behind it. Some people want to work to satisfy their basic needs as Hardy, L. (1990) state, "If we are to survive, we must work" (p. 7).…
