2. Sammy's background is not extensive enough for readers to get a better understanding of his character, but judging by his interactions the readers can make assumptions. Sammy seems like a nice guy. I don't think Sammy is a hero at all. Sammy wants the girls to notice his heroics which make him less of a hero. A hero doesn't expect to be noticed, or rewarded for his/her actions. The exposition of the story seems to be when the main character is introduced. Queenie plays a major role in the story because she is the reason Sammy played the hero card. Sammy wanted her to notice him.
4. Sammy's feelings for all three of the girls changed over the course of the story. First he was interested in the larger girl, then as the story progressed Sammy started to like Queenie.
