Goddess Of The Earth Ouroboras Analysis

The above quote depicts death as a permeable state, as though it is a series of doors to pass through with ease. In this quote, Kudra courageously and defiantly refers to death not as a permanent state but rather a part of life. This treatment of death as a bystander rather than a villain is unique and is a part of the inspiration for my rendering of the Goddess of the Earth, Ouroboras. As death is a permeable series of rooms to walk about, it creates a cyclical image of the cycle including all stages between life and death. Statuses such as life and death are truly in the hands of the overseer of the sphere called Earth. In keeping with the cyclical and paradoxical elements of Earth, life and death I have selected to name the Goddess for this concept as well as her mythology. Ouroboras was born to seers capable of seeing the devastation future humans would cause the Earth, particularly the violence of war, insatiable hunger that would plague so many, poverty and injustices of mass proportions. Horrified by the future, her parents nestled her safely in the center of Earth’s core, to allow her to see, feel, balance out the Earth and its cycles all while protecting her from the realities of inhumanities to come. Alchemists expressed, through the symbol of the the snake that eats its own tail, the Ouroboros. The Ouroboros has been said to have a meaning of infinity or wholeness. Named Ouroboras in honor of the concepts she represents, paradoxical and cyclical aspects of the Earth, the Goddess of Earth is imperative to the very cycles we hold dear.
