I chose Saint Flora of Beaulieu as my Confirmation saint because she is a great example of faith and fortitude. She showed great fortitude and strength when she was being bullied by her sisters at the Priory. Additionally, she is a great example of faith in her unwavering devotion to God. Some other traits that Saint Flora showed were wisdom and humbleness. I would like to embody these traits, as well as, many more. For these reasons, I decided to choose Saint Flora of Beaulieu as my Confirmation saint. Saint Flora of Beaulieu was born in Auvergne, France, in 1309. As a child, she was very fervent and loyal to God. She didn’t wish to be married and repudiated her parents’ efforts to find a husband for her. At the age of thirteen, Saint Flora …show more content…
One of her mystical experiences was when she fell into ecstasy on the feast of All Saints and didn’t eat till three weeks later, on the feast day of Saint Cecelia. At times, blood poured freely from her sides and mouth, as if she had been pierced by the arms of Our Lord’s cross. One time, she was lifted four feet above the ground in front of many witnesses while meditating on the Holy Spirit. Saint Flora was a prophetess, another power granted to her by God, and had extensive knowledge of things which she couldn’t possibly know. Another miracle was when Saint Flora was smuggling gifts to the poor and was caught, but when she opened her cloak the gifts had turned into purple and red flowers. Another time, an angel appeared to Saint Flora and brought her host from a church that was more than eight miles away.
Because Saint Flora was a wise and humble woman who was dedicated greatly to God, she was often looked upon for advice. Saint Flora of Beaulieu died in the year 1347 in Paris, France. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information relating to her date of canonization or beatification, but her feast day is on October 5. She is the patron saint of the abandoned, of converts, single laywomen, and victims of

III. Gugliemites and their Beliefs: “He heard from sister Maifreda di Pirovano and Andrea Saramita,” recalls Francesco da Garbagnate, “that while Guglielma – who was buried in the monastery of Chiaravalle – was alive she said to them that from the year 1262 the body of Christ had not been sacrificed nor consecrated alone, but with the body of the Holy Spirit, which was Guglielma herself.” Whether she meant that she was in fact the incarnation of the Holy Spirit is not easy to ascertain. However, it is clear, that to her followers this would have inspired a very literal meaning. Guglielma’s followers believed that she was the incarnation of the Holy Spirit.…

St Agnes was tortured for being a Christian in her time, it was against the law to follow Christianity. Although in Australia I can not go through what St Agnes did for being a Christian, many people around the world are still tortured, placed in jail and even murdered for simply being a Christian. A way that I can help is by writing a letter to the united nations raising awareness of the lack of freedom of religion around the world. I would ask them to work hard in the 6 countries that the American government marked as “countries of particular concern” for religious freedom violations. These countries include Iran, Burma, China, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.…

St. Cecilia started to preach about God and was able to convert about four hundred people who later were baptized by Pope Urban. Keep in mind that during this time this was all illegal in some words; St. Cecilia was later arrested by Almachius who condemned her to be suffocated in the baths. She spent one night and one day in the horrible heats, but didn’t seem to be afraid of the fire it self. The executors saw how she wouldn’t burn so they decided to decapitate her but those results were also the same; She died three days after her decapitation. In 1599 officials exhumed her body and found she looked the same way as when she passed away and smelled like flowers.…
