God Is the Path to My Future I, too, shall find my new path to follow with God’s help as I have time and again throughout my life. As my life has currently lost its purpose, I ask myself, “Will I know it when I see it, will I suddenly jump for joy or feel a warm sensation throughout my body. Realistically, I know that I need to listen for the direction from God. For my path to recovery, I should listen to Elijah when he tells us he heard God’s “still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). As I look forward, I see my empty path, and I know the key to finding this new path is to quiet the noisy distractions of life along with negative thoughts inside my head; so that, I can follow Chris Lowney’s (2009) advice of “if we attune ourselves to hearing that still small voice, we will find it whispered all around us and, more important, from within us” (p.151). Sure, I could tell my story from the beginning of my life, but there is no need or desire for me to tell my story from the beginning. I agree with Bateson (2006) when she indicates composing a life story is one’s choice based on the circumstances, context, and audience (pp. 462-463). I am proud of my family and their commitment to serve others. Life’s meaning for me has always remained in the forefront of my existence; it is the belief that my true life happiness comes from serving others. As I move out of my depression with God’s help, I can move forward with Buekner (2006) reminding me contemplation of “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet” (p.112). His words will serve me well before I choose my next vocation and/or volunteer work. And while, I concluded earlier in the Leading Lives that Matter class, at Regis University, I do have more than one place where my deep gladness and needs of the world
