Christ suffered and died on the cross as a ransom on our behalf to rescue us from Satan. This act could only be obtained by the one true God himself. Christ also had to be true man in order to be able to suffer and die for our sins. He also needed to show us how to live the life we should and were meant to live. Active obedience is: 1) keeping the commandments, 2) fulfilling the law, and 3) pleasing the Father by His life. Passive obedience was displayed when Christ allowed himself to be beaten, suffered, then crucified, and died on the cross for us, and was buried.
