Introduction
God has a personal plan for our life, which was already ordained and predestined from the beginning. God desires to use a heart He can transform into a servants heart in the work and calling to advance His kingdom. As the heart is gradually transformed by the word of God, the calling is seen through Gods vision for His servant. Now, the servant is ready to pursue the calling of God in this Christian walk.
Accepting the Call When called, God equips the servant for the mission. Robinson stated, “Our acceptance of that calling means that we say yes to God and fearlessly abandon anything that does not work towards His end.” (Robinson 2013). This is what the personal call is truly about. When called to serve, the heart is bound in love with Him and He will direct every step in willingness, obedience and submissiveness to help advance the kingdom with the lives touched with the word of Christ. The love of Jesus is acknowledged to the world by the love that we exhibit to others. It should not matter who that person maybe. Jesus revealed the very nature and character of God through Himself. For Jesus said, “As you have sent Me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. I in them and you in Me that they may be made perfect in one and that the world may know that you have sent Me and have loved me.” John 17:18-23 (KJV). Krejar stated, “Character is aligning our lives so our behaviors are Christ like. It is the fruit that the vine of our abiding in Christ will produce. Thus we look to the Lord as our prime example. He has given these gifts to be used for His glory. God desires the gifts to be used to edify the body as you have been called to minister the word in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus to the world and the gift will profit all. It was said by Hoyt, “The impartation of spiritual gifts is intended to qualify for service. Christ gave gifts unto men, but not for the sake of the gift itself, nor for the sake of the men upon whom the gift was conferred. This sovereign act of the risen Lord was to enable for service.” (Hoyt, n.d.).
Staying Disciplined to the Call
Staying disciplined is not only for the benefit of those who have been called, but it is twofold. Staying disciplined involves God and the servant that has been called to the work of His kingdom. We must stay disciplined in the faith as we spend time with God in word and prayer.” If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou has attained.” I Timothy 4:6
