Apollo’s origin started on the Island of Delos. An affair of Zeus forced the Titaness Leto to hide from the wife of Zeus, Hera because she cursed Leto to not give birth on land. The island of Delos was not a real Island that could move anywhere in the world until Leto gave Birth. He is a God of many talents one of them being archery. He is very skilled with his golden bow crafted by Hephaestus. He is also a very talented musician; one-time Hermes gave Apollo a lyre and he became the master of the instrument and created many songs on it. He gave humans the gift of prophecy, and allowed them to see glimpses into their future. As the God of Light and Sunlight he provided sun light and warmth to the people of the world. Apollo is also the God of healing and inspired the advancement of different medications throughout the Greek and Roman periods. With the gift of prophecy, he used the Oracle Delphi. The Oracle was the most famous shrine in Greece. "People came from all over Greece and beyond to have their questions about the future answered by the Pythia, the priestess of Apollo. And her answers, usually cryptic, could determine the course of everything from when a farmer planted his seedlings, to when an empire declared war." (The Oracle at Delphi). The Oracle was an important figure throughout Greek History. "Where Apollo is the Sun, Artemis is the Moon. In this pantheon, the two are viewed as siblings."(Coolidge, Olivia E 24).
