Goals Of My First Home

Improved Essays
My first goal is for my husband and me to purchase our first house. I feel renting is like throwing money away and honestly I cannot wait to have a yard. I know my dog would love it too. We came close last year, but were unable to obtain a loan due to our credit debt ratio. The ideal situation to achieve this goal would be for both of us to obtain higher paying jobs while eliminating our existing debt. Therefore, by increasing our income and decreasing part of our debt, we would be able to save up enough for a down payment. My second goal is to find a job in the field of accounting once I complete school. I currently work in fast food and have for way too long. I hope to one day have an actual career instead of a job I dread. The ideal situation

“…from the house that built me” (Lambert 36). This lyric is from the song “The House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert. I chose to sing this song for the project because it relates to Cast Two Shadows very well. This song relates to the book because they both mention a girl and how she was built from the way her household made her.…

The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I had no idea what to think about this foreign, petrifying, game could possibly be about. The car ride from my house was only a few minutes away from the fields where I would begin my baseball career.…

I was 13 years old, just starting off high school, when I realized what this dark cloud that’s been floating over me for the past couple of months really is. It wouldn’t be until more than a year later until I seek out professional help. It started off innocently enough as just a feeling of constant emptiness at the pit of my stomach. It slowly turned into randoms bouts of extreme rage, where I’d take out my anger physically, not just on the walls and mirrors of my childhood home and not just on my family, but on myself. I couldn’t understand why I felt this way, why I wasn’t “normal”.…

Throughout my life, I have been the victim of several burglaries. At the age of seven, someone, in broad daylight, broke into our house and shot my dad in the chin. They were upstairs when I came into the house and escaped through a window, but the idea that I could have come home earlier still haunts me.…

My most valuable possession was my house. It wasn’t anything fancy or exquisite, but it was there that I had spent the precious moments, however few, with my beloved dad. I remember that we would spend hours playing, running around the arched, brightly lit corridors. On either side, I recall the large mahogany doors which would fluidly open to reveal ancient, chestnut-brown rooms with antique, twin bed frames which were confined within. I will never forget the uncanny gargoyles that were suspended onto the wall behind, the very same monsters who would assault my sleep and curse me with countless numbers of sleepless nights.…
