Goals For Going To College

My purpose for going to college is to attain my bachelor’s degree in engineering so that in the future I may procure a job in the engineering field. I also hope to later attain a master’s degree in engineering. Although, I do not yet know the specific field of engineering that I wish to reach for. I want to become an engineer because I love to analyze problems and look for possible solutions and then find the best one(s). In the future, I dream to not only solve challenging problems but to also contribute to society and the whole world. This passion of mine as well as her continual support has carried me through the difficulties of my grandfather’s death, my parents’ divorce, and other strenuous circumstances including the end of her time as my coach. Her presence in my life has truly altered my life for the better.…

I sat on a rock watching a group of elementary school kids explore the natural world. They looked at fish, hopped on rocks and followed bugs to their hearts’ content. We were about a mile from our cabin, at the end of Christopher Creek before it went under the road. As a junior counselor, I probably went way out of my jurisdiction in taking my four campers on such a long trip down the creek, but their enjoyment was worth the potential trouble. I couldn’t believe it; none of them had ever taken a trip down a creek.…

Being in my last year of high school I have begun to think about what goals I want to accomplish during college or after college. I have come to a conclusion that after college I would like to obtain my doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine and start a family. After college I would love to get my doctorate because I enjoy helping animals and their owners. Growing up I have always had a soft spot for animals in my heart, but by majoring in wildlife sciences, it will allow me to come out of my shell and take a different path from just dogs and cats. Also by majoring in this department, I hope to encounter different cultural backgrounds so that I can grow culturally and learn about others while helping them with whatever struggles they…

My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…
