Goal 1: Incorporate a diversity of students and incorporate students into a diverse culture
• Include diverse content. In planning my class and creating the curriculum, I will purposefully pursue resources that come from other countries and cultures, and are not just out of a commonly used textbook. Many of my sources will be primary sources that proclaim the voice of minorities. Even using one such source throughout the year and studying it thoroughly can help my students to recognize that no human can know the empirical truth.
• Assist in making connections with other communities. One way that technology can be helpful is by connecting students to their peers across the world through the internet. I will make it a priority to connect

Rewards are definitely necessary for students. These rewards however can be simpler than candy or stickers. My rewards will involve helpful activities that they can do such as holding the door or vacuuming the floor. I will also point out my students work and show how proud I am when they work hard, and show how their work has helped them. For example, if they figure out how to divide numbers, then they can divide a bag of M&M’s into the appropriate amounts for their group.
• Group work. As they work in their groups, they will be motivated by their peers to succeed. Instead of looking to the teacher for answers, they will ask each other, and perhaps certain resources, and test their work. If they were by themselves, they might think that not being able to complete a tasks speaks to their inability, but by being with peers it will show they are not alone.
• Provide choices. While a majority of the rules and activities of the class will be chosen by myself, there will definitely be times each day when the students get to choose activities to do, and also how to do certain activities. For example, there may be stations that have different subjects to focus on, or multiple ways to solve a math problem. Also, choice will be given as to which places to go for field

In order for me to start gaining experience, I will need to get a degree for Elementary Education so I can be certified to teach. I have two more years, during which I will need to continue persevering through lots of work. An open mind will also be necessary so I can learn what I need to.
• Work as a teacher. I do not want to be an administrator without having more experience in the field teaching. I want to know what it is like to be working amongst a group of teachers, to go through my first few years of teaching with little experience, and trying to abide by policies and laws.
• Attain a Master’s Degree. In order to be an administrator, I will need to go back to school, probably night school, so I can be trained. This will give me necessary skills in managing a group of teachers, which will take me further down the path of being able to accompany more than one school.
• Make connections. During the time leading up to getting a degree as an administrator, I will be maintaining and making more connections with people in rural areas, so I have a group of trusted people to possible start schools or programs. As I do this, I will be getting necessary experience along the

The institution of education has a responsibility to its students to make diverse perspectives part of the curriculum. Oftentimes, school systems seem to gloss over the diversity of our world, and stick to the perspective of those who already are grossly overrepresented. According to Marcelo Ledezma, the diversity that our world has is not represented by most school curriculums, and this needs to change. If diverse perspectives are included, it would benefit all students, non-minorities and minorities alike. It is the school's responsibility to seek out these perspectives, not the students.…

I believe by incorporating multicultural education as well as aspects of equity and diversity into the classroom, young students will become more aware of the increasing need of awareness of the cause. For example, students will be able to identify ways that they can interact with other individuals who are ‘different’ from themselves. With proper education, students and educators, will have developed the necessary skills to properly handle these topics when they arise through their personal experiences in education or within society. Additionally, the importance of educators growing awareness of these topics allows them to meet the growing needs of their students, ultimately providing them with a continuing path for an beneficial education experience. Therefore, my plan as a future educator is to engage my students with equity and diversity topics and activities to create an anti bias education.…
