On October 15th, I participated in an experiment called “#673 Goals & Memory.” Brandon Magenheim was the conductor of this experiment. It is a three-credit experiment due to its longer involvement. The first part consisted of various activities that lasted for about an hour. However, for the next two weeks, I will have to take a ten-minute survey daily in order to test how well I am carrying out my goal. The moment I entered the room, I was handed a sheet that gave information about the difference between vigorous and moderate exercise. Walking was an example of moderate exercise while vigorous exercise involved running. There was a calendar on the back that had recommendations on how many minutes to spend on each type of exercise through a month. I was then asked to take a survey on the computer which inquired about how …show more content…
At this point in the experiment, there was confusion over what this would have to do with goals and memory. I was then given an activity to fill out on paper called “Improving and Maintaining One’s Physical Health.” It involved questions like “will exercise improve health?” and required me to fill in a chart that pulled the process on how to accomplish this goal into parts. Brandon then asked me if I was willing to exercise at least 4 times a week for the next two weeks and I answered that I would. Then, I was given another online survey which asked how I personally carry out behaviors and how we describe behaviors differently. It asked me to reframe terms by the way the action is performed. For example, I reframed the phrase “cleaning the house” into “vacuuming the house.” I was then questioned about my commitment to the goal and how I feel about the goal.
