Regression test was used to measure the goal perception, from goal difficulty and expectations. The results showed that both of the goals were of comparable difficulty.
A similar regression of goal attainment and performance also did not yield any noticeable differences among the two groups. A significant result was the perceived performance. The midgame and postgame questionnaires showed that the group with the set goals were portraying a higher level of competence than the group with no goal. The performances for group with high achievement orientation were not significantly different for both goal types, but the low oriented group showed a better performance in the mastery focused goal. The statistical analysis could be interpreted in concluding that success in an assigned task is mainly determined by the achievement orientation toward the goal, the second most important factor being the goal type, and then come into play the mediator factors and process
