In this paper, I will begin by discussing why I chose this book to review. I will tell you know how this book made an impression on me. I then will give examples from sources that either will corroborate or contradict what was discussed in the book. Lastly; you will find out how or why the information from the book will or will not affect my personal actions or professional practice.
Book
The book I chose was Go Wild. This book was written by John Ratey and Richard Manning. I chose to read this book because of the synopsis. In it’s own subtitle it says Eat fat, Run free, Be Social, and Follow Evolution’s other rules for total health and well being. It caught my attention because it was basically stating; we do not have to concern ourselves

I found this interesting to learn thay humans succeed as a species only to a certain degree. We make connections to everyday things in life. As exampled in the book; “attraction to the color red, makes you notice it more (Manning, 2014).”
Corroboration
It has been shown that nature or the wild does release stress and improve in health. “Results showed that those who walked in forests had significantly lower heart rates and higher heart rate variability (indicating more relaxation and less stress), and reported better moods and less anxiety, than those who walked in urban settings (Suttie, 2016).” Being in nature releases certain hormone and improves health. Also walking bare foot or “Earthing” has benefits. It helps improve eye health, stimulate refelxology to vital organs in the body, relieve stress, and impacting your mood.
Practice Application
Although the book was very insightful; I do not believe I will utilize it in my personal and professional practice. I may keep the book in mind and sample some of what was written in the book for my personal preference; however being that this is not evidence based and has only a select few that have used this method. I will not feel secure enough for my patient to Go Wild; this is something that may or may not hurt my patient. I may suggest them to read the book for themselves and decide. The author is a professor at Harvard Medical School; therefore I do feel some confidence in the book topics; especially the harvest gatherer

Pat B. Allen emphasized on two ways of creating a stronger relationship with ourselves, imagination and colors. In the first chapter of the book, which is Knowing the Imagination, Pat B. Allen (1995) stated that “A relationship with our imagination is a relationship with our deepest self.” (p. 3). I felt personally attached to this sentence because I believe powerful enough to give me a sense of who I am and where do I stand, which create a deeper connection with myself. Imagination takes me to different and unique places.…

A book that strongly influenced me would be On Writing by Stephen King. Truthfully speaking, I initially picked up the book because of its title. I hated reading because it was always a requirement and rarely for leisure. I intended that by reading this book, it would improve my writing techniques. But, I was shaken by how much I enjoyed the book and the art of memoirs.…

For my outside reading book I chose Running Into Yourself by Jean-Paul Bedard. Personally I really enjoy this book purely for the reason it is about running. A person that doesn't enjoy running most likely will not enjoy this book as much as a runner would. The book is about what you think about while you're running, how running can get you out of mental situations, and about working towards your goals. Running Into Yourself starts off talking about running a marathon, the climax of a running career.…

Being products of evolution, nearly all living things are, in essence, products of their environment. The environment influences which traits are successful and get passed on. Before long, those organisms are directly products of their environment. This phenomenon chiefly occurs when the environment holds all the power over the organism. When it comes to humans, however, we are social animals, we influence and are influenced by those around us.…

In this paper, I will try to make an understanding of how social media, like Facebook and Twitter, can affect the six degrees of separation. The six degrees of separation is a theory developed by Frigyes Karinthy, which states that every human being, or phenomena, is linked to every other, in five connections or less (five connections link six human beings). This theory started with the following mind game created by Frigyes (1929), How can I link, with three, four, or at most five links of the chain, trivial, everyday things of life. How can I link one phenomenon to another? How can I join the relative and the ephemeral with steady, permanent things - how can I tie up the part with the whole?…

In the chapter one of The Willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigal she describes the concept and the components of willpower. She writes that there are three different pieces of willpower. “I won’t” power, which helps you to resist temptation and encourages you to say no to everything you want to say yes. That can be a candy bar or a cocktail. “I will” power, your ability to do what you have to do, even if part of you does not want to do it and “I want” power, your motivation regarding what is truly matters.…
