In Honors English 9, we have recently watched two different Romeo and Juliet movies, one from 1968 and the other from 1996. These two movies differ in many different ways. I will be analyzing both of these movies based on three criteria: music use, performance of dialogue, and plot accuracy. Ultimately, one movie emerges greater than the other.
The use of music is one way the movies differ greatly. The music use in the 1968 movie helps make the movie fit the time period better. In the 1996 movie, the music seems very out of place and seems to ruin the immersion. The song “Pretty Piece of Flesh” by One Inch Punch is used close to the beginning of the 1996 movie to show the presence of the Montague boys
