GMO’s are foods that have been genetically altered to have the most desirable characteristics. There are individuals who want to these foods to come with labels while others think it is a bad idea. In article one, “Although Some GMO Sympathizers Embrace Mandatory Labeling, It’s A Disaster In Waiting,” by Jon Entine, argues that sticking labels on GMOs will create problems and there no need to for them. Article two, “Even if GMOs are safe, mandatory labeling is a good Idea,” by Mahni Ghorashi, argues that labeling GMOs is a good idea and a human right.…

It is sad to think that 93% of crops grown in the U.S are genetically modified and our government cares more about a profit than its peoples health. GMOs must be stopped. The government is using GMOs to get a better yield out of their crops and to help fight against pesticides. But when fighting against pests they have to genetically modify our food so they can spray it down with a whole bunch of pesticides and in the end you are eating what was drenched in pesticides. Humans and animals are consuming GMOs and GMOs could be harmful to our health.…

Finally, labeling should be a very important part being made in a product in the GMO industry, making sure people understand how dangerous it truly is for us. Also major companies that work with GMOs are starting to monopolize their own products to increase productivity with their own farming using biotechnology. The result of this will mean farmers will have to start buying these seeds instead. If GMO use is going to be here to stay then the government should create laws that will force these companies to have labels, not protect them, and force that are creating and using these products. With the amount of known effects Genetically Modified Organisms Should not be allowed in our foods today.…

Cody Mertz Mrs. Bauch 8th Block 16 May 2016 Did you know that using genetically modified organisms decreases the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide, which decreases the risk of global warming. Not using GMOs will increase the use of pesticides, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and fertilizers. Today, I will try to persuade you why GMOs should be used in everyday farming. GMO is short for Genetically Modified Organism, which means that food and drink are injected with a genetically modified organism to give the food or drink a certain flavor or taste that it cannot make itself. Organisms can also have foreign genes inserted into them, almost the same thing as Genetically Modified Organisms but they come from animals, plants, and sometimes humans, instead of other foods (GMO Education).…

With the rate at which our planets population is growing, what are we going to eat when we run out of room to plant crops, raise animals? There is always the option of genetically modified organisms or GMO’s, meats that are grown in labratories, algae, or even insects, but all of these are “temporary fixes” to the real problem. How can we sustainably survive on this planet at all if we continue down this path of over consumption? According to the Non GMO Project, GMO’s are defined as living organisms whose genetic material has been altered via genetic engineering in a laboratory (GMO Facts, 2016).…

In todays food consumption, majority of the food people consume will most likely contain genetically modified ingredients. People may think that the food they eat are healthy for them but they do not even know whats really inside. Genetically modified foods should be labeled due to health reasons. A reason would be that GMOs contains unknown genes which can be harmful to us where we wouldn’t even know. We should also have the right to know what is in the food we buy and consume.…

Although genetic engineering helps to solve many problems including famine, it is moving forward too fast, changing the way things happen naturally, and therefore posing many risks. GMOs are transferring genes in a much more unpredictable way compared to natural breeding. Natural breeding is that a member of one species can not produce fertile offspring with a member of another species. Genetic Engineering as one of the branches of modern science makes it possible to transfer genes not only across species, but even across kingdoms, inserting animal genes into microbes or plants, hence creating GMOs.…

Genetically modified organisms also known as GMOs have been an area of hot debate over the last few years. In this article we will explore the arguments for and against GMOs and at the end dispel the fear-mongering and show that humanity has been modified organisms since the beginning of recorded human history; we are just much better and faster at it now than in the past 1,000s years. The goal in GMOs is to modify organisms (generally food stock such as livestock and extensive agriculture, plants), at the genetic level, to obtain better quality offspring. Companies such as Monsanto and other agriculture, industrial giants aim to create plants that taste better, have better nutrition qualities, are resistant to drought, pest, and other environmental…

Picture this: a world where everyone looks exactly the same--ridden with birth defects, religion has disappeared because people can control their environment with a simple insertion or deletion of a gene, and no one is sure of the future because every couple years, a virus that was supposed to harmlessly alter genes mutates to harmfully cause a deadly epidemic. Sound familiar? Maybe not yet, but at the rate we 're going, the world isn 't far away from the scenario just described due to the ever-increasing rate of genetic engineering occurring in today 's world. From genetically modified crops to mice that glow in the dark to bacteria that produce insulin, countless uses of genetic engineering have appeared in just a few short years, and without…
