Gmos: Bad For Our Environment

Improved Essays
My opinion about GMOs; I personally believe it is very bad for our environment and us as people. GMOs are chemicals in our food example: corn, potatoes, carrots, cows, chicken, fish and much more. Truthfully, I believe the chemicals they put into our food is harming our inside of our bodies. Chemicals should not be in our foods. If we had nongenetic foods we would not have so many problems with our inside of our bodies. If people knew what was going into their system, I believe people will start eating organic foods.

First, scientists and farmers put chemicals into our food. Because they want the food to adapt to climate change. In some states, their land is very dry and they need the vegetables to adapt to the climate change. So scientist

To be against genetically modified organisms, is being against the advancement of technology. Over the course of all history many ideas have been shut down before they’ve even seen the light of day, and unfortunately that could be the case for gmo’s. 88% of U.S. scientists say genetically modified foods are safe to eat, and only 37% of Americans agree. Rationally, GMO crops aren't inherently different from other breeding techniques that people already trust—so even though we can't know with 100% certainty that the plants won't have negative effects, there's also no reason to think that they will (Peters). People tend to give them a bad rap simply because they don’t further research them.…

Though one might argue that the relatively recent developments in the field of GMOs have the inherent risk of unknown negative health consequences, the claimed “ side effects can be described as little more than unsubstantiated. Since their conception in the mid 1990s, GMOs have been extensively studied, with over 1700 peer reviewed studies published between 2003 and 2013 alone. Hundreds of those were independently funded, with no conflict of interest or compensation from the Agriculture Industry. One could also argue that GMOs can, in some cases, be even safer than Organic produce. This is due to the fact that the amount of product testing before a specific strain is allowed to be put on the market is considerably more rigorous in comparison to unmodified organisms.…

Gmo is addressed and involved in science because now scientist are appealing to genetic engineering techniques, that can make them speed up the process of evolution and adjust them to make little changes in the physical aspects of the organisms to achieve certain benefits and make them look prettier. Also some advantageous outcomes of this genetic modifications include, increased food production, decreased the price of food, reliability and yields and enhanced taste and nutritional…

What do you think about genetically modified or know as (GM) stuff. Genetically modification is where one gene is transferred from one thing to another and has a different outcome. Genetically modification things are better looking and they are also safe, but they also cause environmental issues. Most of the GM foods are created in the United States. In my personal opinion, I think that genetically modified stuff is all right.…

On top of that GMOs can be modified to create a natural defense against pesticides, reducing the need for pesticides. Of course people are concerned about non GMOs breeding with GMOs and the possible creation of a super weed, however, I am not too concerned about this as for me the benefits clearly outweigh the…

GMOs: The Manmade Super Food Or the Genetic Atomic Bomb? GMOs, like many other things, start from good intentions, but the effect it can and does have on the planet, the animals and people aren’t so good. It's great to live in the present but sometimes we have to put the future first. Genetic engineering (or GE) food started in the late 1990’s; 1996 to be more precise. We have been told that it’s better for the world, that it can help us produce more crops that are bigger and healthier; that it’s low cost, and we don’t need to use extremely harmful pesticides on them.…

In “GMOs: A Solution or a Problem?”, environmental science writer Mark Lynas addresses an interviewer from the Journal of International Affairs regarding large scale implementation of genetically modified foods internationally. In Lynas’s eyes, examining genetic modification from a scientific approach suggests that GMOs are a field of technology that farmers should take full advantage of. He sees opponents of GMO usage as misguided and ignorant to the issue at hand, stating that these anti-GMO activists “are spreading misinformation” and it “is a rejection of science and decision-making based on scientific evidence.” His claims convey the idea that the slight possible negatives of GMOs are heavily outweighed by the positive opportunities and solutions that GM farming could provide.…

Genetically modified organism (GMO) is living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering, and they are the source of genetically modified foods that contained corn, soybeans, and sugar beets. Insulin, the typical medication treatment for diabetes, was the first GMO products; rennet, an enzyme that is use to make cheese, is the first approved GMO product for food use. Also, consumers can easily find GMO ingredients in food supplies that use corn, soybeans, and sugar beets. Obviously, this technique reached a great success and is gradually occupying a seat in the market.…
