GMOs are plants or animals that go through a process in which their genes are changed by adding DNA from other organisms of a different species to the original plant or animal. GMOs get new desired traits in order to benefit themselves such as getting resistance to disease, or some sort of tolerance. GMOs are one of the most talked about topics in the 21st century and there are many debates that go on. There are studies that go on to test whether GMOs are safe or not. There are too many unknowns and approvals that have been premature and ahead of solid safety evidence. GMOs affect the health of organisms, and there is limited evidence to support long-term safety of eating GMOs. In general, GMOs are unsafe, and they have a negative impact on live organisms. Genetic engineering technology is based on a misunderstanding. According to genetic engineering, you can take out several genes, or add several genes to an organism, and you can get a beneficial result. But, in reality, this does not work. Putting in different genes will make the organism ineffective because the genes wouldn’t match up. (Mercola, 2015). Scientists have disproved GMO safety. They …show more content…
In addition to GMOs being harmful to the environment, they also have health risks in humans and animals, even if they don’t show up right away. GMOs are everywhere, it’s almost impossible to avoid unless someone eats all organic food. Even though they are everywhere, it doesn’t mean that they are safe to eat. Studies have shown that things such as metabolism, fertility, and aging can be affected by GMOs. There have been misunderstandings in GMOs. Even though GMOs have some advantages, there are more disadvantages and claims that GMOs are actually unsafe in the long run for organisms that eat them. There are no long-term studies in the US, which goes to show how GMOs are not safe and uncared for, and how there is limited evidence

The key scientific issues being discussed right now about GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are that are these transgenic crops safe and is it ethical? Transgenic crops are crops that have a gene in them that has been genetically modified not through pollination but through someone artificially inserting the gene in the seed. Ethics play a big role in genetic engineering so GMOs have a lot of ethics go in them before anything is actually done to the crop itself. That being said not all GMOs are the same. A GMO is an organism the someone has changed the genome inside of that organism it is up to the engineer to pick what genetically modified gene they want to use.…
