What if I told you, 70-80% of the food at your grocery store is genetically modified? You may feel great about it, because it can feed the world’s population, it can increase food production and it won’t take much effort at all. There’s a downside to this GMO trend going on. What if the food you’re eating can cause diseases? What if it puts organic farmers, the farmers who still grow their crops traditionally, out of business? It can even cause cancer in lab rats? Would you want to eat something like that? This is merely my opinion formed after reading the information throughout the internet. Is the internet always true? No. Now I will give you unbiased information about GMOs and how they affect the United States and even the world’s population.

With the world’s population increasing to a dramatic 9.6 billion people in 2050, production of food will have to double the world’s food production. With an increase of 2 billion people, the amount of land available will also have to increase. Instead of planting fresh and organic crops with the land the United States have, researchers believe we should save that land for the population increase and continue creating plants by an efficient means which is genetic engineering.
