Policy Brief on GMOs and the Future of Agriculture
The agriculture application of genetic engineering has been denied and accepted by different state and unions such as the European Union. Public surveys have shown so many different opinions. It’s an open secret that many countries views are influenced by gender, age, level of income, and socio-professional statue. And that means countries with issues in inequality could show bias results. In general, the world’s attitude toward GMOs vary from country to another. It's believed that The American Academy of Environmental Medicine encourages doctors to prescribe non-GMO diets to all of their patients. Based on Institute for Responsible Technology, “They cite animal studies showing organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders, accelerated aging, and infertility” (IRT 1). In addition, it seems to be too difficult to clean up the contaminated gen pool caused by GMOs. Moreover, the GMOs contamination has economically influenced organic and non-GMO farmers who usually struggle to keep their crops clean and pure. And that people should not be forced to certain type of production. Also it’s unfair to put production sanctions on those farmers because they don’t have the connection or the money. America represents freedom. But, the agriculture industry in America is performing their GMO production against many farmers’ will. Yet, arguments in favor of GMOs have great point of view. However, I grew up in a farm, the only thing in America that has its original taste is bananas. In my opinion, the rest of the food has zero quality to it. My recommendation to the Agriculture Industry in America is to think of healthy Future people and environment instead of going solely economic and use cheap material just to increase production and gain more
