GMO’s stands for “genetically modified organisms,” these are strands of DNA that have been modified to help benefit the plant in some form such as making the plant immune to certain diseases or to help the plant grow larger. Arguments in favor of genetically modified organisms include reasons such as the ability to use fewer pesticides because the crop has been modified to be resistant to certain insects. Another argument in favor of GMOs is that the crop is able to grow in more harsh conditions allowing a larger amount of land to be used and benefiting areas that do not have the best conditions to grow food.
