Something that can be looked at and implemented is Services Theatre Framework. This can be related to using theatrical elements such as actors, audience, setting, front-stage, backstage, and a performance (Fisk, 2014, p 26). The three that Glur’s could really focus on to improve the visits from their customers are setting, frontstage, and backstage aspects. …show more content…
The backstage aspects are exactly what they sound like, they are what takes place behind the doors and are not seen by the customers. At Glur’s the person making the food is involved in the backstage department. My last experience at Glur’s wasn’t a good one and one of the reasons was because of how long it took to get our food. For the number of customers and how simple our order was, our food should have come out much quicker than it did. For all we knew, the guy in the back could have been messing around on his phone just as the waitress was that had our table. If one of the employees has an emergency or needs to contact someone it should be done where the customers do not see it. That is an area that Glur’s could really improve on. The training that I talked about in the frontstage improvements can also fit into this category. Training needs to be done one on one by the owner so that the employees know what is expected from them when they are working. If the owner would have been in the tavern that day he would be less than impressed with the way things were being ran. My family and I would have also voiced our opinion to him so that he would be able to make the necessary improvements that are necessary if my family and I ever plan to go

If managers see a problem with an employee I think the employee should be informed on what was the cause of the problem, and how they could improve. For example I have personally asked the managers if I can improve on certain aspects of the job and was surprised that they had many things to say, but I was never informed of these issues until I asked. I didn't get angry or upset but instead put more focus on what held me back. 3. Orders have become a cluttered mess.…

For our course project, my restaurant of choice was the Red Lobster located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Red lobster is one of the world’s most famous casual/family seafood restaurants. It has been a staple of downtown Silver Spring’s eclectic dining community for more than 15 years. Interestingly enough, in all the years I’ve been dining at red lobster, I’ve never really given any consideration about what happens behind the scenes and the day-to-day operations. Luckily, after interviewing the manager, Harrison Shea, I’ve a better appreciation for just how challenging working in the restaurant industry can be.…

Not only does a new way of training help the employees, it also benefits the managers and the establishment in return.…

Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally-owned business, rather than a nationally-owned business, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers, and farms - continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community.…
