Roly Pollie Party; How Different Types of Music Impact Pill Bugs Behavior In our experiment, my partner and I came up with the hypothesis that the vibrations of different kinds of music would affect the behavior of pill bugs. Pill bugs, also know as Roly Pollies, are small, black, terrestrial crustaceans, that roll up to protect themselves from predators. Pill bugs can't hear, but they can sense the vibrations from the sounds. This lead my partner and I to see how the vibrations from the sound would impact the behavior of the Roly Pollies.…
Discussion: 1. Compare the ratio of the lengths of the intestine in earthworms, frogs, pigs, and humans. What significance do the lengths have with respect to the organism? Based on dissection, it was noted that the length of the intestine in earthworms, frogs, and humans all vary in sizes. The intestine of the earthworm is about two-thirds of the worm 's body length.…
Analysis: There are several instances where the number of pillbugs in the light are equal to the number of pillbugs in the dark. It’s difficult to decipher a pattern in the data. The pillbugs seem very indecisive and continuously move between chambers. However, if one disregards the data where the number in light and dark are equal, there are three times where the amount in light is higher and only two times where the amount in dark is higher.…
Pill bugs name is woodlouse. Climate change will have an effect on animals, plants, and humans. With climate change rising many animals are going to get extinct in the future. Pill bugs are small animals that can live under rocks, and when you catch one they always tend to rolled up into a small ball. Their body temperature has to match with the environment that they live on.…
Will not reproduce indoors unless they find continuous dark, moist conditions. Species living in perpetual darkness, as deep in caves, may have eyes reduced or missing, and often have long slender limbs. Sand-treader Crickets live in burrows in deep sand usually dune areas, with stout hind legs for digging, and most have hind tibiae with long spurs modified into a and basket that apparently helps in digging and moving through the sand. Food Most are omnivorous and will feed on most anything organic. Many if not…

The Effect of the Amount of Light on Sowbugs After Being Shone on Them for 30 Seconds Another name for Sowbugs is Porcellio Laevis and these creatures are land living crustaceans, mostly aquatic invertebrates, such as the lobster, crab, and crayfish. They are found in most parts of the world, but are most common throughout North America. Since sowbugs are crustaceans, they breathe through gills. Gills are the primary breathing way for all crustaceans and they must be kept moist (4).…
I choose the article “Hidden Epidemic: Tapeworms Living Inside People’s Brains” by Carl Zimmer. I picked this particular article because I thought it was interesting to learn about the effects tapeworms can have on a person’s brain and the things tapeworms can cause that people do not usually hear about. This relates to the class because we talked about tapeworms and their effects on humans. We also talked about how people get them and how long they can stay in the body.…

I chose to investigate the environmental impact of gypsy moths because I have personally had experience cleaning up after these pests in northern Ohio and I know that they are becoming an issue in other parts of Ohio as well. I was able to witness some of the damage they have done while removing defoliated trees in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Gypsy moths are a non-native, invasive species that, over the past decade, have been coming into the state from Pennsylvania and Michigan. The moth undergoes a complete metamorphosis and while a caterpillar it has the ability to feed on over three hundred species of trees and shrubs and cause serious damage and defoliation. The moth’s preference for oak, make the oak tree particularly at risk because the caterpillars favor it and a tree can typically only withstand two years of defoliation before the damage is permanent or results in the death of the tree.…
Firefly: The Best of both Worlds Popular culture introduces individuals to communities, heck it helps create communities. Think about the TV shows and the bands you like, you are drawn to others who also enjoy those things, right? Just like fables and fairytales, shows like Firefly, the Simpsons, Parks and Rec, or Avatar bring people together through common interests and viewings. TV shows and movies have created huge communities around them and have given people who are literally across the world a way to connect and engage with each other. And if that’s not beautiful then I don’t know what is!…
Nature does not always show it’s true colors, until nature is given a hard-minded perspective of it´s outer shell. Even though nature seems predictable, nature hides what can be considered, it´s true colors. The silence of nature is deadly, and the slight bit of flittering only add to the atmosphere. Nature gives off the seemingly rough taste that is coated by the lighthearted view of people, but is actually a smooth movement into reality. Through constant toil and struggle of understanding, nature cannot be predictable, much like a beetle that only shows it´s shell.…

Strategy outline of Waitomo Adventure’s Survival Course What’s being proposed? I am proposing an idea called ‘Survival of the wilder worms’ held at Waitomo adventure’s ltd as I know they have a lot of bush land for this to be held there. I would like to propose to the owner of Waitomo Adventures this as it would benefit their company by having an extra activity for groups to take part in.…
