Yes, they are. Soda or sports drinks really empty kcalories. Every 12 fl oz of soda contains about 9 teaspoons of sugar and no other nutrients. Acctually, sugar does give you energy, but after that initial burst of energy, you feel pretty tired and wiped out. Because the soda and sports drink have no other nutrients, they are considered as empty kcalories. Her diet is already contain more than enough sugar, so she does not need more sugar.
4. Can I eat a hamburger when going out with friends to a fast-food restaurant?
People already know that hamburgers in fast-food restaurants are not made from lean beef, so you should choose the smallest hamburger they offer. If you need more protein, please try different menu with grilled chicken.
5. Are whole-grain rolls higher in kcalories than white rolls? Explain.
