In 1597 the construction for “The Theatre” was started in London by Giles Allen. Later the project was demolished by the Lord Chamberlain's Company. Burbage then decided a new location for the project at south bank river Thames in Southwark in 1998. It was to be built by a master carpenter named Peter Smith occupied by help. The outside has a sort of regal white and brown-striped design to it. The roof went around a circle and in the middle was the open air theatre. On the inside is three levels capable of holding over 3000 people.
Performances were usually performed during the afternoon for lighting effects and were done in the spring and summer for the weather effects. Speaking of effects, one specific effect sent the first Globe theatre burning to the ground. During the play “Henry the Viii” a cannon special effect fail set fire to the Globe theatre sending it to it’s first end. The Theatre was rebuilt a second time in 1914.
The Globe theater brought massive audiences to the entire community. The theatre featured many different acts such as drama, history, and comedy. Some of the featured acts were plays by Shakespeare himself, around 36! Some others that performed were Hamlet, Twelfth night, Richard the second, and Henry VIII.
