In the first source, the main idea is that a traveler is stopped at a sign and has to decide whether to take the “silk route”or the “rather coarse woolen route”. If the signs are taken literally, it is saying that the silk road is very soft and pleasant like actual silk. And the “rather coarse woolen route”, is very rough and hard. The workers in the U.S are having massive layoffs and having their rights reduced. Being controlled by “Corporate America” with the “NAFTA Whip” is interpreting that they’re treated like slaves. The workers abroad are chained up by the “WTO”and held by “Corporate America” and also slave wages are little and they are being held back by worker rights. The intended audience for this cartoon is everyone that has even a little background knowledge about ‘Corporate America”. The cartoon was illustrated so everyone will know the truth behind “Corporate America” and what they’re really up to. Most people won’t see what’s wrong with “Corporate America” because it's linked to globalization and globalization is almost always a good thing, but not in this case. The simple way of putting globalization would be, “globalization results from the removal of barriers between national economies to encourage the flow of goods, services, capital, and labor.” So in definition to that, every country should be connected so we can help each other out and not put up barriers to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world. So with the barriers down the workers abroad come into America to work without knowing what they’re really getting into. In my opinion, this source isn’t the best thing in the world, but they’re always people that’ll disagree. Supporters of this source believe that what “Corporate America” is doing and how they’re treating their working isn't right at all.
