Twelve of the hottest years recorded on Earth have come with in the last fifteen years. A staggering fact like that needs to not be ignored. Today in the United States of America there is great a divide amongst the population when it comes to Global Warming. One in four Americans thinks Global warming isn’t happening (Climate Change In The American Mind). This is mind-blowing since 97 percent of publishing climate scientist agree that human activity has affected the Earth’s climate they also agree that we are seeing the effects of climate change now (Climate Change In The American Mind). It’s amazing how we can be so divided and let a label scare us. If you align yourself with the people who think the government needs to step in and lead by example and start passing tougher laws when it comes to green house gases you might be labeled a liberal. On the other hand if you want to argue that the earth’s climate has been changing since day one and our role in the way we alter it is a minimal one you might be labeled a conservative. It’s very sensitive subject that has been altered by politics. The science is there yet people would rather take the word of their favorite congressmen who is more than likely on the take anyways. Right away people argue that too many regulations is bad and that we should just let companies be. Caring about the planet these days seems to be attributed to being a hippie and nobody wants to be that. One of the main reasons the US has so much carbon pollution is because of the way that we harness energy. Our power plants are the largest source of emissions in the US. They account for around one third of all of our greenhouse gas emissions. The US has set limits for other toxins but there is no federal law on the books that stops power plants from emitting as much carbon pollution as they
