Global warming has been an on going dispute for well over a decade now, arguments of whether this is occurring from a man made industrialized movement or it is a natural cycle. Their is an abundance of credible scientific evidence that it is occurring because of the human race, but why are some governments specifically the United States have such heated debates on this environmental anomaly?

To understand the controversy let first explain what is global warming or as some call it the green house effect. Not too soon after Mitt Romney made this comment, after weeks of criticism, his view of global warming changed, this was something that was politically influenced on Mitt Romney this was not his own views. It has been shown even if a political candidate does not care at all about the climate he will support the change just to receive the votes when election day comes. 2.5 times more registered voters will support a presidential candidate or congress if their views are supporting global warming. (Leiserowitz)

The view on global warming between both political party’s Republicans and Democrats are so drastically different. The Democrats support that climate change is occurring because of how dependent we as an entire earth have become on industrialization. Here are some facts that can occur if global warming increases , the number of category four and five hurricanes will double in 30 years, deaths from global warming in just twenty five years to 300,000 people a year, sea levels will rise twenty feet, drought and wildfires will occur more often and more than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050. (inconvenient truth)

Democrats and Republicans both have very good reasons for their views on this issue, but scientifically the Democrats have the facts behind them and more reliable sources. In the late 1980s scientist were seeing a significant change that the climate was changing and the planet was warming. Dr. Patrick J. Michaels of University of Virginia and Dr. Robert C. Balling of Arizona State sent President George Bush a letter warning him of the research that has been found and the effects that are going to happen. These researchers had the evidence, put in the work to prove their needs to be a change, yet the politicians did not act. (Newton

Climate change can affect our future and the future of our ecosystem. In the Democratic ideology, climate change is something that can be taken care of. They stated in their platform that “Democrats are committed to curbing the effects of climate change, protecting America’s natural resources, and ensuring the quality of our air, water, and land for current and future generations.” (democrat.org). Democrats are committed to making not only America but also the rest of the world better.…

The government is using global warming to scare the people into the giving them the power they want. Williams says this is the point of practical politics. This means that the government creates imaginary problems to keep the populace alarmed and scared, causing them to turn to the government for help. Another point the writer makes is on suppression of free speech that many of the global warming supporters are proposing. One has to wonder if these people actually believe the things they say about persecuting those who deny global…

In addition, a sub claim that is presented in the article is that there is a lack of agreement between people’s opinion regarding the contribution to climate change to that of scientists. With the public support, a senator claims that climate change is only a “hoax” used to scare “America” (9). Scientists with knowledge in the field, on the other hand, acknowledge that climate change is due to the activities performed by humans. Therefore, the public is constantly avoiding acknowledging climate change and it’s…

Global warming is turning into a huge problem today. Oil spills are happening, more and more pollution is being put into the air and causing problems with the ecosystem. Citizens see that this is evolving more and more each day and the government is just ignoring it for “bigger problems”. The ocean is being polluted and millions of dollars are spent almost every year trying to fix it the problem temporarily. The Democrats would like to fix all these environmental problems but they need to pass more laws for it and they must have the other party vote for those laws, which seems to be a challenge.…

Frontline’s Climate of Doubt was a compelling film showing how climate change has become more of a political issue than an environmental one. The film followed correspondent John Hockenberry around the United States as he interviewed several individuals that included scientific specialist, conservative republicans and liberal democrats who may or may not have been holding a position in office at that point in time. He asked simplistic questions surrounding the issue of climate change that could have been answered by anyone who was able to comprehend their own beliefs, however some individuals refused to answer the question directly and the pattern seen behind their response seemed to be associated with their political choices. It was clear to see that throughout the film there was a trend occurring. Republicans refuse to believe that human-made climate change is an issue and the real question is why they believe such lies.…

The correct use of the term, especially by an influential figure aids in the acceptance of climate change’s presence. Research in the article "The Scientific Consensus On Climate Change As A Gateway Belief: Experimental Evidence" notes that “at least 97% of climate scientists have concluded that human-caused climate change is happening” (van der Linden et al. 1). The scientific evidence supporting climate change is paramount, yet numerous people--conservative Republicans--continue to believe that the severity of the situation does not exist. Climate change has gained controversy within the political sphere due its negative portrayal of fossil fuels an energy source which Americans have relied on for decades. This financially and politically motivated reliance has left little to no room for alternative energy sources: ethanol, geothermal, solar, and…

I have looked for much research to answer the question by myself as to whether global warming impacts seriously on our life or not and what we can do to protect our living environment. Katherine Hayhoe’s YouTube series, “Global Weirding”, is a series that touches on the common myths and misconceptions people have on global warming. Her introductory video begins with her explaining that you don’t have to be a green wearing, granola eating, liberal to care about the earth and its climate. In fact, she is a Canadian who is a Christian and she very much cares about the climate change. Scientists have been studying climate change since 1820, almost 200 years now. And it has been 50 years since scientists first warned the current president of the time the affects climate change could have.…

Global warming is being caused by humans and something should be done about it. The reason global warming is so prevalent is because people do not know they are hurting the environment and some people do not believe it is real. There will be consequences to everyone if nothing is done about it. Around the world, less than half the people in the UK (43 percent), Germany (49 percent), and Norway (34 percent) believe that global warming is caused by civilization (Le Page).…

Once again we come to the scene of an environmental and economic argument. I think it is demonstrated on the news and in many scholarly settings. I liked the contrast in options offered in the two videos that we witnessed in the video. The opinion held by a majority of the democratic community is that the earth is on the fast track to self-destruction, and anyone who denies this is inhibiting the world of opportunity and time to heal is selfish and immoral. On the opposing side the republicans view the democrats as a having an agenda, which ultimately feeds their need for funding for environmental research and projects.…

Many Americans believe that we are not the cause of what’s accelerating the Earth’s downfall. According to Michael Ranney, “If you don’t understand the mechanism, then you just have competing authorities, kind of like the Pope and Galileo. (PBS). Ranney believed that if global warming could not be proven by a mechanism, it did not exist, but this is not the case. Dan Kahan, stated that “declaring a position on the issue can become more a statement of cultural identity than one of scientific understanding” (PBS).…
