When many people think about their future, they usually only consider the things that will affect their personal lives. These things include the city they will live in or the job they hope to have, but many people don’t actually stop to think about the world around them and how it is constantly changing, whether that is good or bad. A very serious issue infamously known as global warming is a very good example of bad change going on in the world. Here is why the people should be informed. “Over the last century, the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil has increased the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide, or CO2.” (NASA: Global Climate Change). These are two of the main non-renewable sources that are used all around the world, but they are also the most harmful the the planet. There is a 95 percent probability that humans have self-warmed the planet for the past 50 years (NASA: Global Climate Change). By exceeding the environmental safety limit in industrial activities, they are constantly adding to the worsening conditions of the Earth’s atmosphere. The clearing of land for agriculture is yet another reason for these conditions. To give an even better representation of environmental failure, think of this so called “greenhouse effect” as a “blanket around the earth” (NASA: Global Climate Change). Sunlight passes through the atmosphere and the heat radiates back toward space. Coming from Earth’s surface, however, heat can’t pass through the thick layer of chlorofluorocarbons and other unwanted gases in the atmosphere. This causes it to radiate back to Earth’s surface. Most of the outgoing heat is absorbed by greenhouse gas molecules and re-emitted in all directions. This is just the basics.
