Global warming is the absolute most alarming environmental issue that the world faces today. Global warming is the gradual increase of Earths surface, ocean, and atmosphere temperatures. Global warming is a greenhouse effect that is caused by Earths atmosphere coming in contact with radiation from the sun. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are polluting the air causing the warming of Earths temperature. Pollution is collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun 's heat and therefore warming the planet. Not only is the surface temperature increasing, the atmospheric temperature and ocean temperature are increasing as well; endangering plant and animal life. This climate change is a threat to all living things worldwide. Scientific data concludes that the Earths average temperature has increased between 0.4 and 0.8 °C over the past one hundred years. The average temperatures have increased at the fastest rate in fifty years. Records show that every year is becoming hotter, with 2014 being the hottest year in average combination of land and ocean temperatures. Every day, month, and year that passes only contributes to more damage and an increase in global warming. The consequence of the increase in temperature is being felt all over the world. The findings of scientific research done in this field show that the temperature of the earth is likely to rise from 1.4°C to 5.8°C within a period of one hundred years.
