Argumentative Essay: The Problem Of Global Warming

Improved Essays
How much more evidence do skeptical people need, to believe that global warming is a real problem and needs to be solved immediately? Global warming is one the serious issues confronting humans right now. Global warming has occurred due to carbon dioxide and other gases getting stuck near the earth’s atmosphere, creating a thick blanket trapping greenhouse gases and the sun’s heat, thus making the planet warmer. It is changing our economy, health and the way we live in different ways. Many scientists are predicting that if we do not find a solution immediately to solve global warming, the future of the earth’s climate will be devastating. The leaders of the world must come together to discuss and fix the problem known as climate change. Most …show more content…
Some of the effects are already being felt in parts of the world. The poles of the earth is where global warming is being most affected. Due to this the ice caps are melting, the sea is becoming warmer and the rise of the sea level. With the ice caps melting, polar animals that live on these glaciers will suffer, because they will not have a place to sleep or rest. Also, the sea levels will rise due to ice melting and people who live near the shores all across the world will slowing watch the water creeping up the shore. According to Quirin Schiermeier, a writer for Nature, an International weekly journal of science, “Scientists have come up with the firmest evidence so far that global warming will significantly increase the intensity of the most extreme storms worldwide” (Hurricanes are getting fiercer). In other words, global warming is causing the wind directions to shift, resulting in extreme storms. With all these effects, the devastation of global warming seems inevitable. However, there is a solution to slowing down climate change and eventually fixing it. This solution is the “Clean Power Plan” proposed by President Obama on August 3, 2015. This is also supported by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which claims that this plan is “a historic and important step in reducing carbon pollution from power plants that takes real action on climate change”. Also, this plan …show more content…
Hillary Clinton proposed a plan to set ambitious goals for producing energy from the sun, wind and other renewable sources. In a New York Times article written by Trip Gabriel and Coral Davenport, “she also called for installing a half-billion solar panels by 2020, and to generate enough energy from carbon-free sources within 10 years of her inauguration to power every home in America” (Hillary Clinton Lays Out Climate Change Plan). Another Democratic candidate who proposed plans for slowing down global warming is Bernie Sanders. With the endorsement from the Friends of the Earth, which is a national environmental group, Sanders proposed that “we need to transform our energy system away from fossil fuel and into sustainable energy” (Sanders Endorsed by Friends of the Earth). These proposals by Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders both aim to stop global warming by using renewable and sustainable energy instead of energy from fossil fuel power plants. However, they have not mentioned any regulations on fossil fuels like the Clean Power Plan. In order to shift to renewable energy first we have to set restrictions on power plants because they produce the most carbon emissions. Carbon emissions will reduce by setting regulations on power plants, then implementing solar and wind energy which are

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has a unique campaign that focuses on bettering the life of the average American. As his slogan suggests, Sanders is interested in leading a movement that will positively mold the future of the country. With over thirty years of experience in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, he is extremely qualified to hold such an important office. Bernie Sanders should be the next president of the United States, because he is the candidate who is most concerned with reforming the ills of society, such as racial injustice, accelerated climate change, and insufficient minimum wages. One reason that Sanders resonates so much with young people, is the fact that he hopes to stop the federal government from…

Imagine a barren wasteland, incapable of supporting the growth of any form of life and overpopulated with more people than it could sustain: this is the future of the earth. But, this is not just another scene from a sci-fi film of a population that has expedited their vital resources, but the reality for the “over 7 billion people” who populate the home we call earth (Hardaway 4). A considerable amount of blame is placed on global warming which is an “increase in the temperature of the lower atmosphere“; however, global warming has not garnered enough acceptance from some political officials and skeptics due to the term’s ambiguity (“global warming”). Global warming is often confused with climate change and although these terms sound alike…

The apocalypse is an idea that people talk about regularly in today’s society. From a zombie outbreak to a major flood, anything could lead to the end of time as we know it. However, nothing is more frightening or real than the threat of catastrophic climate change. Climate change is the result of exponential amounts of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere, which causes the earth to trap heat in between the surface and the ozone causing a drastic temperature change and extreme changes to global climates. This temperature change can cause a number of issues for all life on earth.…

Imagine having summer all year long, being under the sweltering heat, breathing the stuffy, sick air, and conditions worsening as the day goes by. These harsh conditions are increased by air pollution and climate change through cars and factories; man-made inventions. These innovative technologies have been necessary in order to have a functioning and developing society and economy. However, the belief that humans are the sole cause of climate change is refuted by scientists, advocating that the change in the Earth’s climate is a natural cause. Earth formed over about 4.5 billion years ago, and it has changed ever since then.…

Global warming has been a widely talked about subject for many years. Although it has become such a controversial topic, it is indisputable that there has been a change in the climate in recent history and continues to do so. Over the past one hundred and thirty- five years that data has been collected, copious amounts of climatologists have piloted research and investigations that proves global warming is an ongoing threat to Earth as a result of humans negligence. Furthermore, there is a mounting body of evidence to prove that the cause behind global warming is man-made. Despite the growing evidence, a number of scientists still believe the current changes in the climate a part of a natural global cycle.…
