Causes and Effects of Global Warming
According to a study done by National Wildlife Federation, “The current pace of global average temperature rise puts approximately 25 to 35 percent of plant and animal species at increased risk of extinction.” This poses a huge threat to humans, as the majority of oxygen is derived from plants. Furthermore, without the influence of various predatory animal species, the populations of prey would skyrocket. Global warming has recently developed into one of the most relevant and concerning issues in today’s society; being as it negatively influences many aspects of the environment, including humans, animals, and weather.

To begin with, greenhouse gas emissions are the primary cause of global warming in the present day. First of all, as with humans, animals must cope with polluted and unhealthy air to breathe, as well as contamination in other aspects of their life. Some animals who are unable to withstand this, greatly deteriorate in population, or sometimes go extinct altogether. The pollution directly affects animals’ habitats, causing it to die off and disappear. Without a place to live, surviving becomes increasingly more challenging for many creatures. Another affect global warming has on animals is the fact that some are not able to adapt fast enough to the rising temperatures. For example, coral reefs around the world are going through a process called “bleaching”, which means that they are dying off due to a rise in ocean temperatures. Because of these reasons listed above, global warming is negatively impacting the animals on planet
