Global Warming and the American Economy “What’s good for the environment is good for the economy (Trzupek qtd. Chicago Department of Environment Official).” As Americans our lives are greatly impacted by the economy. Most families today were effected in some way from the recent economic depression that our country experienced. Many lost their jobs and some ultimately lost their homes. It was an extremely difficult time for individuals and businesses. Although recovering from the economic depression is challenging, Americans should view this as an opportunity to start fresh. A way to not only improve our own lives, but the life of our planet, and the future of both. The future of our economy and our planet is in grave danger. Scientists have debated, and the evidence has been overwhelming- Global warming is real and as humans we are contributing in a large way to the diminishing effect of our planet. How will we survive in the coming years? What will we leave for our children? The only way to rectify this situation is to transition to a more environmentally friendly economy, and to do so as quickly as possible. A green friendly environment would provide long-term career opportunities for Americans of all skill levels, which in turn would greatly improve the American economy and reduce the rate of global warming.
Requiring institutions to go green would not only reduce the carbon footprint we are leaving on the planet, but create many jobs within the green sector. The process…
