Today, climate change (global warming) is a problematic issue, and its effects are becoming more apparent across the world (Weeks 521). What makes it worse is that this problem is occurring because of human activity, but there are people who do not believe this. Even with strong empirical data presented, they attribute this troubling issue to some other factors while ignoring all the evidence that points to human activity. It is crucial that people understand that climate change is happening; it is changing “even more radically,” (Emanuel 6) than ever, and humans are the cause. Because it is a problem accelerated by people, it is urgent that some kind of initiative should be carried out, by people, in order to fix or to decelerate global warming. Unfortunately, even with many solutions proposed, they are ignored, or not enough is being done. As a result, climate change continues to grow and exist. As of recently, global warming has already made a significant impact on the Earth (Weeks 523). “Certain types of weather events have become more frequent and/or intense, including heat waves, heavy downpours, and in some regions, floods and droughts” (Weeks 523). In addition to that, extreme changes are occurring in the Arctic. Scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have reported that records for snow cover and ice coverage, as of 2012, have been set to a new low, and these changes have devastating effects (qtd. in “Future of the Arctic” 791).
