Global Warming Technical Report

Numerous researchers, scientists, and environmentalists are expressing concerns about changes in the general climate of the earth. Some believe that a dramatically dangerous warming is occurring in the overall global atmosphere, a problem that is alluded to as "global warming." This paper will attempt to investigate this very issue of Global Warming and what impacts it poses on our planet.

Global Warming otherwise known as Global Climate Change is a consistent elevation in the general temperature of the world 's environment generally credited to the greenhouse effect generated by expanding levels of carbon dioxide and other diverse toxins. Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air toxins accumulate in the environment and consume sunlight and solar radiation that has bounced off the earth’s surface. Typically, this radiation would escape into space—however these contaminants, can last for quite a while, hundreds of years even. Once in the air the contaminants trap the heat and in turn cause the planet to get hotter (1).

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important heat-trapping (greenhouse) gas, which is released through human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels, as well as natural processes such as respiration and volcanic eruptions. The first chart shows atmospheric CO2 levels in recent years, with average seasonal cycle removed(8).
