Every day over one billion people globally are faced with the consequences of economic inequality and are required to survive on less than $1 a day. This extreme poverty is caused by a large economic income gap as well as the overall affects caused by global inequality. As defined in Essentials of Sociology, global inequality is the concentration of resources in core nations and in the hands of a wealthy minority (Ritzer 288). This essay addresses the ongoing issue of global poverty and inequality that is found throughout our nation as well as the world as a whole.
