Globalized Issue: Pollution With the escalation in its severity in recent years, society is increasingly gaining understanding on the global issue of air pollution. Air pollution is the contamination of the air as a result of smoke, dust, and essentially, harmful gases mixed into the atmosphere. People from all around the world are growing more concerned with the issue of air pollution each day, thanks to the emphasis the media has placed on it. As society develops awareness and grows apprehensive on the topic of global pollution, people begin to seek the answers to two main questions: Who is to blame for this issue and what is the solution? According to a New York Times article published in January 2014, China seems to be the main culprit in this air pollution problem, which leaves them with the next question at hand: How can we solve this problem? and China would just be wasting money and time on these clean energy sources, considering that this would not stop the problem of air pollution entirely. However, the excessive demand on a healthier environment is enough to want to bring somewhat of a positive change. It is not right to purely reject this alternative on the grounds that it will not completely solve the problem. Change is possible, one step at a time. If we place this solution in one of the main air-polluting countries, it is guaranteed that there will be a significant positive change. As the article “The Globalization of Pollution” states: “In Los Angeles, that increased pollution was responsible for causing at least one extra day of smog per year that exceeded federal ozone limits.” Getting rid of the energy resources these factories are using and replacing them with cleaner energy resources will decrease pollution dramatically, and accordingly, decrease the amount of smog in the western region of the United
