Many people do not help stop the major international conflict. Part of this conflict starts with ignorance. “In 2005, to date the hottest year on record, there was a massive loss of coral reefs, including some that were healthy and thriving when Columbus first arrived in the Caribbean. In 1998, the second hottest year on record, the world lost an estimate of 16 percent of all its coral reefs” (Gore 164). This quote states the increasing of pollution in the atmosphere and the pollution is affecting nature. Human beings do not know the actual facts. Not everyone sees pollution every day, especially air or noise pollution. Some people in this world, especially in places in the United States, do not live by power plants, polluted water, or a loud street. There needs to be more topics about pollution so more human beings can get involved. The world will change if the world starts to stop pollution now. A good example to follow is the Chinese government. The government will limit the amount of pollution and the quantum amount of pollution will decrease over time in the future. Without government guidance, pollution will not stop. “Much of the forest destruction comes from burning. Almost 30% of the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere each year is a result of burning of brushland for subsistence agriculture and wood fires used for cooking” (Gore 227). People all over the world are cutting and burning wood, especially in rain forests. This shows the amount of plants that are decreasing around the world due to deforestation, which will change planet Earth forever. This is a good example to prove that people care about their short term life, not about long term life; humans use the resources around them survive during that moment in their
