This had an influence on me to make my decision to restudy Mandarin after high school. As a result, this leads me to enroll in an entry-level Chinese class during my first semester at John Jay College, a school with a pretty strong ethnic diversity. Unfortunately, I didn't get to make too many Chinese friends, because they had been really hard to approach, and they were lacking confidence when they speak English. It was the worst unforgettable memories of my life in this country as being a victim of school bullies because I was the easiest target being the only Chinese student at that school who couldn't speak English. I had no help from school facilities, I didn't tell my parents about what was happening in school because they only need to know the positive things. I took the negative burdens, like always, upon myself. Slowly, I began to realize that I would never be able to move forward if I didn't overcome my fear. For that reason, I got up on my feet and began facing the school bullies for the first time. In return, I won my battle. As a result of that, I gained my reputation among the temporary students, no one picked on me since then, my life turned colorful, and I got tremendous confidence when I spoke English. That was when my life carried me into the next chapter. I got friends, high self-esteem, and other positive things. Nevertheless, it is very helpful if a student understands this concept because nothing would bring them down if they dare to face their fear and get up from where they were fallen last
