Global Launch Reflective Report

I worked at the Global Launch (GL) at Arizona State University (ASU) from January 7 to May 23. The GL is and IEP that helps students to improve their English so that by the time they finished the program, they will be ready to engage in academic English. In addition, the GL also provide students with opportunity to practice the language in a fun, friendly, and risk-free environment. The opportunity to practice the language beyond the classroom is vital for students’ success in language learning.
My initial at the GL role was as a language helper, a student worker who facilitate students at various extra-curricular activities at the GL. Later on, I was also requested to join the tutoring team. The task was to help students with their academic problem, i.e. homework and additional courses, individually.

Language Helper
Language helpers’ tasks are to assist the program coordinator in providing extra activities for GL students to practice their language. The activities are varied from 1 to 1 conversation partner to conversation club. There are also activities that address students’ specific interests, such as reading circles, reading theater, and field trips.
Those activities are provided for GL students for free. The activities show the GL effort to provide the students with maximum experience in while learning English in the program. The program does not only teach the language but it is also full of cultural exchange, friendship, and,
