The Influence Of Influenza On My Family

Global Health Concern When I was younger, my major health concern was influenza because a bunch of the other kids at my school had the flu. I have only ever had the flu once, and it was in first grade. I remember my mom had to take me to the doctors because she thought that I could not have the flu because I had been vaccinated. However, I did have the flu and majority of the symptoms related to the flu such as a high fever, cough, body aches, chills, and fatigue. The doctor gave my mom a prescription for an antiviral medication that helped with making the virus shorter. My mother in the meantime had to make sure that she then sanitized all surfaces (door knobs, handles, counters, etc.) she also had to keep my little sisters away from me until I was feeling better.
To prevent influenza now and into the future, I will make sure that my family is vaccinated every year, as well as the prevention steps. To prevent influenza beyond the vaccination I will make sure that we avoid any close contact with sick people, clean and disinfect surfaces and toys, keep hands washed with hot water and soap. The reason I say this is because we bought a house last year and it is maybe thirty yards from a big wooded area and the river as well and from about April until the end of September ticks are increasingly active. In this particular area we have a lot of deer which also can potentially mean a lot of ticks. The reason I am so scared and concerned about Lyme Disease is because just the symptoms alone can make your life miserable. The symptoms of Lyme Disease include a fever, headache, fatigue, and a skin rash with the name erythema mirgrns.
