INTRODUCTION
Our company TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) has been taking measures which is sustainable and environment friendly. The strategies are aligned with the ten principles mentioned in the UN Global Compact .The Tata group's Tata Business Excellence Model (TBEM) follows sustainability as a major factor for measuring business excellence for group companies, and the results of these are discussed at the board level.

Our industry which we have chosen- IT industry is one of the major sectors that contributes to environmental degradation. It is planning to implement this over baseline years 2007-08 and to be completed by 2020.
To reduce carbon foot print, green buildings which are eco friendly and utilises the maximum of solar power can be used to lower the overall carbon print to the desired level. Some key features of the TCS green buildings include the following:
• Higher energy efficiency
• Maximum use of solar light
• Integrated Building Management system. IBM is using a variety of green technologies for an $86 million data centre expansion in Boulder that will make the facility the company's largest data centre in the world. This project involves high density computing systems that uses server and storage virtualization, and energy saving power systems and cooling systems. Likewise TCS can also implement the same strategy in all its offices in India and worldwide.
2) Green Equipments:
• Buying of energy-star rated equipments.
• Usage of eco-friendly items including office paper, and other materials.

With the rise of Cloud computing, which saves data over the internet can be a viable solution. Cisco has its Single Connect, hardware, automatically configured by application of centric policies which is way better than conventional methods in terms of speed, consistency, and simplicity for data centre operations. It brings the flexibility of virtualized systems to the physical world in a way, lowering costs and improving your ROI. TCS also can implement similar kind of strategy in a large scale.
