This high number of machines is needed to produce more than one thousand and five hundred different types of braids. The process starts when spools of yarn are received and placed into the twisting machines. The twisting machines turn the yarn into thread and put back on spools where they are then brought to the winding section. Then, these large spools of thread are wound into multiple small spools of thread which are then brought to the braiding section. Once in the braiding section, the small spools of thread are placed into one of the eight hundred braiders. Depending on what type of braid it is, the spools can be placed on eight head, sixteen head, thirty two head, or sixty four head braiders. The thread is made into the braids, in most cases wrapping around a filler in the middle to make it less elastic. These braids can be curly, flat, elastic, thin, thick, etc. After the braiding process is complete, the braid is brought to one of the two dye houses in a big box or on a spool. The bottleneck in the work flow comes in at the dye house, where only twenty braids at a time can feed through the dye house at a very slow rate. Some braids will wait up to two weeks to go through the dye house. The dye house will color, coat, and anti-wick the braid specific to the customer’s order. Once the braid is finished with the dye process, it is brought to the tipping section. There
